There are seasons in life when everything seems to move faster than we can keep up.

Responsibilities increase.
Schedules fill up.
The days pass quickly, and before we realize it, the quiet moments we once spent with God begin to disappear.

Most people do not intentionally neglect their spiritual life.

It usually happens slowly.

A skipped prayer here.
A rushed devotion there.
Soon, the rhythm of sitting quietly with God becomes crowded out by the responsibilities of daily life.

Ironically, many of the things that keep us busy are good things.

Work.
Family responsibilities.
Serving others.

But even good things can slowly push aside the most important thing.

In Luke 10, we see this happening in the life of Martha.

The Bible tells us:

“Martha was distracted with much serving.”
(Luke 10:40)

Martha loved Jesus.
She wanted to serve Him well.

But her focus became so absorbed in the work that she lost the peace of being in His presence.

Her sister Mary chose something different.

Instead of rushing to complete every task, Mary sat at the feet of Jesus and listened to His words.

Jesus gently told Martha:

“You are worried and troubled about many things.”
(Luke 10:41)

That description could easily describe many of us today.

We often live with minds full of worries and schedules full of activity.

But Jesus reminds us that the path to peace begins with something very simple.

We must learn to pause.

To step away from the noise.

To return to the quiet place where we can sit with Him.

Spending time with God does not require long hours or complicated routines.

Sometimes it begins with just a few quiet minutes.

A short prayer.

A moment reading Scripture.

A brief pause in the middle of the day to remember that God is present with us.

These small moments of stillness can slowly restore the peace that constant activity steals.

The invitation of Jesus remains the same today as it was in the home of Mary and Martha.

Slow down.

Come back to His presence.

Sit with Him again.
